Privacy policy
Last updated 28 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Holding Point collects through this website (holdingpoint.ai) and the demonstration at demo.holdingpoint.ai, why we collect it, and what we do with it. Holding Point is operated by its founder, Shane Severn, in Western Australia. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Holding Point.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
This policy does not cover the Holding Point product when it is deployed for an airline. In that case the software runs in the airline's own cloud environment, the airline controls the data, and the arrangements are set out in our agreement with that airline.
What we collect
When you use a form on this website
The briefing request form and the pilot sign-up form collect your email address and, if you enter it, the name of an airline. We also record which form you used. We use this to reply to you, to arrange a briefing, or to tell you when Holding Point becomes available at the airline you named. We send one email for the pilot sign-up, as the form says.
When you email us
If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to tell us.
When you visit the website
The website does not set cookies and does not use advertising or tracking tools. Like any website, the servers that deliver it receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying individual visitors, so we can see which pages are read and where visitors come from.
When you use the demonstration
The demonstration at demo.holdingpoint.ai uses fictional manuals and is protected by a password. When you sign in as a pilot you enter a crew ID, which can be any text. It is converted into a random-looking code on our server before anything is stored; the crew ID you typed is not kept. A cookie holds your sign-in for up to 12 hours.
The questions you type are sent to Anthropic's AI service to produce an answer. The demonstration does not store the text of your questions. It stores a usage record for the training-view dashboard: the code mentioned above, the fleet you chose, the topic and training competency of each question, practice results, and a short label, generated by the AI service rather than copied from your wording, that summarises the topic and any misunderstanding. These records are cleared whenever the demonstration is reset.
The live example on this website's home page asks the demonstration server for answers to four preset questions. Those requests carry no personal information beyond the technical details any web request includes.
Please do not type real airline documents, personal details or anything confidential into the demonstration.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of service providers to run the website and the demonstration. They process information on our behalf, and some are based in, or store information in, the United States and other countries.
- Cloudflare hosts this website, provides its security and visitor statistics, and forwards email sent to [email protected].
- Formspree receives form submissions and passes them to us by email.
- Google provides our email inbox and the fonts used on this website, so your browser contacts Google's servers when a page loads.
- Render hosts the demonstration.
- Anthropic provides the AI service that answers questions in the demonstration.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with airlines, employers or regulators. We will only disclose it where the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions and emails for as long as we need them for the purpose you gave them to us, and delete them when you ask. Demonstration usage records are cleared whenever the demonstration is reset.
Your choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to fix it. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way we handle personal information changes, and change the date at the top.
